In our understanding “creativity” has a contextually situated interpretation: steering an open and bi-directional way between individual subjects, actors, on the one hand, and social, cultural, economic structures on the other hand, where learners are allowed to be active producers and thinkers rather than consumers and reproducers of knowledge. (This contextual interpretation of creativity has been inspired by Pamela Burnard’s theory on “multiple musical creativities” described in Burnard, P., ‘Musical Creativities in Practice’. Oxford University Press, Cambridge, UK, 2012.) The contextual interpretation of creativity also allows us to think of the possibility of “everyday creativities” at school, where an open, flexible, continuously evolving and improving educational process makes the creative actions at school customary, unexceptional, habitual and prosaic, thus continuously improving the creative competences of children and teachers at the same time
With this free interactive tool we would like to support you to structure and present elements of “everyday creativity” in your teaching practice. We invite you to reflect on your teaching practice, and upload a short description as well as photos that illustrate, condense and catch creative teaching as you understand and experience it in your everyday practice.
Complete the form below (respecting the limit of 1500 characters), upload a photo or a snapshot of a relevant document (worksheets, lessons plans, etc.) to each description (file type accepted: jpg). Once completed, you can print your “EVERYDAY CREATIVITY PORTFOLIO”, that can become a valuable and unique element of your teacher portfolio.
Tools, technologies and materials I use in my teaching to develop the creative competences of my learners:
The variety of methods and strategies in my teaching (e.g. learning by doing, combining study fields, exploratory learning, use of various learning spaces inside and outside of the school, methods that help developing applicable skills, etc.)
The ways in which I communicate with learners to create new knowledge (e.g. empowering learners, facilitating cooperation for better learning, involving learners in interaction, engaging learners)
